oh well…another blog!!

oh well, im back again to blog the things you missed in a month.

well, we just celebrated masskara the whole month of october and the fever was done. though banderitas and streamers were still in majorthoroughfares, these leaves the memories of one happy event.

1. who will forget the 3 day streetparties where artists from manila came over to join us through the parade. colorful masks and costumes filled the bacolod streets, as well as glitters were scattered and of course "basuras" that are left over.

2. the way to dawn street parties were cool where from lagoon to ramos street was full of people waiting for their fave bands. some were confused on where to park their butts sine every corner of the street have different bands and gimmicks.

3. of course, Unilever also joins Masskara festival in celebrating through a POP FIESTA concert with RMN. Entertaining the store owners as well as the loyal users of Unilever products such as CLEAR, SUNSILK, KNORR AND CLOSE UP were Jolina Magdangal, Jennylyn Mercado, Rachel An Go and the CUESHE.

4. the marimar mallshow was jampacked with fanatics oozing to watched the hunk dingdong dantes playing the role of sergio and the belle MArimar played by mArian Rivera. Thanks to Sir Bret of giving us the "GMA EXEC seats" for an opportunity to watched them closer and comfortable…and Miss lyn who accomodates us during the show.

5. A lot of people also flooded the precints as they reported their loss items. The event is one big opportunity to some opportunistic people.

6. The masskara peryahan was an awaited part of the festival. This we can have the opportunity to ride the carousels though it was a short one and pretend it was like Enchanted’s longest one. But my friends and i enjoyed the ".25 itsa itsa and pula puti" where we got our PEEWEE as our prize!

october was the busiest month in Bacolod for the year (well except for Christmas!…Have a Merry Christmas by the way!) and it would end as ever tiring. But a long vacation is waiting ahead!!

a eulogy for dolorita

I have so much to say, Dolly…but I know you wanted me to kept it short. Even if I was to speak for a long time…how does one capture a lifetie of living?

Dolly was my friend…we were friends for thirty years. We didn’t see much of each other, but every time we did, we had this special bond that only comrades and warriors share. And she was a classic friend. This means that every time I looked at her, I could see a reflection of myself. She would always give back to me and make me feel good about myself.

I think this is true not only about myself but about all of you here today. All of you who loved and were loved in return by Dolorita.

When we were younger in the 70’s we were all part of an enchanted group that was able to perform magic. We were passionate, we were full of energy, we had talent and we were going o change the world. We created wonderful things out of nothing. And Dolly was one of us.

The Koran says that "He deserves paradise who makes his companions laugh." Just from that alone…Mrs. Monares is surely in heaven.

Dolly and her sparring partner, Chart were the funniest…most bastos women I ever knew in my life. They were the Michaelangelo and Da Vinci of lewdness. They were virtuosos of the profane. Nothing was sacred and grabe gid ang ila nga sense of humor.

Dolly had a way of creating laughter by making herself the target of jokes, but what many didn’t realize was that the joke was on us. She had a sense of humor that boomeranged and exploded around us like fireworks. I slowly realized that she would absorb brilliantly funny retorts that were cruel and person-targetted and turn it into a general statement of how foolish and naive we all were. I think this was artistry of a very rare kind. I saw this early on and almost missed the fact that shew was a terrific actress and subtle observer of human nature. Beacause of this, I offered her the tile role of Dolly Levi…the classic Thornton Wilder role…tokaya ni Dolly..the chismosa..the matchmaker…the social operator of the musical HEllo Dolly…the Dolly who knew everybody and knew what was going on and made things happen and made the world better because of it. In the play, there is a line…Money is like manure…it was made to be spread around. She didn’t even have any money. So she spread love and herself around.

When I offered Dolly the role…a perfect role… Dolly playing Dolly role of Literature she freaked out and disappeared for Cebu. How did I know then that I was aking her to expose the ecret of her true nature?

For a long time, myself being young and arrogant, I thought that she wasted a perfect opportunity to be a star on stage. How was I know that she was doing this in real life? When I realized this, I felt better but I always mourned the fact that I never had a chance to work with her in a major role.

And then Mamang happened and it was one of the most creative and happy experiences in my life. There was no need for her to act a woman who was a mother to the whole world. A woman who worked hard to help keep her family together..a woman who loved fiercely and gave of herself. nobody called her Tita Dolly…she was always Mommy Dolly. To everybody.

You cannot be a mommy to somebody just because you’re cute or because you’re funny. You earn the name of mommy because you have made yourself a part of the person…and that person a part of you. And this takes a lot of work and a lot of caring.

And as for your real family..its not hard to see how fiercely and passionate they love you. Si Wilfred, Cyrill, Krueger, Mick Mick and Tope. how aware they are of your kindness and the sacrifices you have made for them. As the Spanish say, "Amor, con amor se paga"…Love can only be repaid with love.

If we cry today, Dolly…it’s not because you died. We are all going to die. We do not cry for you. We cry for ourselves. Because we will have to live in a world without you. But even as you are gone…we feel your love, Dolly. Because love never dies. I, and all of us here today…your big, big family..will always love you.

recap vleaz!

for two weeks, my sched has been really very busy with both work and personal stuffs. from movies to dining to activities. some may be very interesting and some are those we say its very disappointing let me start it off with:

MOVIES:

A LOVE STORY. With the community i am with now, our fellowship was a date with "a love story". people really do expect that angelia panganiban was the mistress here trying to get in the lives of the couple played by aga muhlach and maricel soriano. here, there’s a twist in the story. ok, i may be unfair to those who havent seen but im sorry i have to spill this out–NO! its not angelica panganiban the sexy mistress here rather its maricel soriano. the story tells us that not all men’s mistresses are oung and sexy and beautiful that they are just looking to but some they tried to find someone who can be there with them. so for those married couple out there, try to take some time with your hubbies.

RUSH HOUR. dad and i watched this movie together and we both enjoyed the funny stunts and tactics of jackie chan and bubbly chris tucker. ey! tucker did gain weight and it was a good to see him that way. the ambassador’s daughter also  grown up young lady here letting chan to hold on to his promise to get back to those people who hurt the ambassador.

DINING:

SUENO. Dining at Sueno with my sis who went home from Iloilo was also one relaxing moment. The place was cozy and nice, the food was great (especialy the fish fillet with cream cheese) and very affordable.

MCDONALD’s. Its nice that McDonald’s bring back the twister fries. Its one of my favorite at mcdonald’s. I wish mcdo wouldnt take it away and make it as the all time favorite!

KUSINA 13. Like the squid sisig. its tastier and lot of milk and cheese. yummy! gotta get back there!

ACTIVITIES.

RC launched an exclusive SIM. Riverside College recently launched their MyRiverside Sim in partner with Globe Telecom. The school ordered 5,000 sims exclusive for their students. This is the first in the history of telecommunications where the students can avail of the cheaper rates in SMS and call. In the morning, a presscon was held at the Riverside college little theater where La carlota drumbeaters welcome the guests and friends from the press. In the afternoon, students were requested to stay int the quadrangle to join the fun and excitement GLOBE has repared for them. Local talents like DUst 22 and JAvaskaggs performed and ake the students danced and jive with the party and reggae songs prepared by the band. THe concert was hosted by Sabado Barkada Kabarkada RJ Chua and Demos Sison. It was one disappointing event we ever handled as lots of demand we get from the Globe peeps. (eew!) We invited top press from TV/Radio and Publications, during the Q&A there are questions that Globe management cant give the answer the press expected so our friends from press threw more questions. They put the blame on the TPA which we only did our part in inviting the press. BEsides ts the management of the press who assigned them and the questions was not scripted either. so why blae it to the weatherman? =) whoah, whatta! Its a small activity but it was very stressful and very disapointing. If globe is disaapointed, how much more for our part? They just keep on demanding this and that they even cant coordinate with us and actually pay their billings in the TPA. whoo!

BEACH. We had our office outing at Villarosa yesterday Ita was fun..so much fun where refillers and supervisors bonded together taking all the works set aside. A soaking wet afternoon happened as no one can ran away from the ritual of "tagbunganay" everytime may ara pool or sa beach.

RNG on the ground event. Through our friends from RMN, a song and dance of WOW paksiw na wow pak ka na ba contest happened at Brgy Mambulok singcnag airport last saturday. Selling and games were prepared in order to add hype during the activity. This was a last minute instruction where i can say "NO COMMENTO".

how do we love on our everyday life?

HOW DO WE LOVE IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

Have you seen "A walk to remember"? Do you remember the message the lead man gives to the girl he loves?
The message in the Corinthians about LOVE says so. The characteristis of LOVE that is. It is taken from 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.
Loving our neighbor. Who are our neighbor, i may ask? Its not literally means that it is the people living besides our house.
It is not just our family..because they were there already with us from the start so we develop that instant feeling to
them, also, with our friends, loved ones and of course, the one we encountered mostly in our days. Or its not just during Christmas days we could give love.
One example is in our work place.

1. PATIENT - we should be slow to anger, able to give allowance for the shortcoming of others.
To be honest, my patience with my work is not that long enough when I am in front of my sibblings. Its different. I could easily
get mad at them but with the people in y work, i got this patience i didnt know where it came from. Working in a promo agency lets me
meet a lot of people-from our subordinates, our officemates up to our bosses to our clients. These people have different character which
we really have to be patient in dealing with them.

2. KIND - we should not have an attitude of criticism, but posture and speech that is upbuilding and encouraging.
In our field, "kind" is definitely a no-no. why? These people i may encounter might abuse or will not follow us anymore. But i proved it
all wrong. Deal with critics as positive. I mean don’t incur it to yourself that is so degrading. Or if you give critic, make sure it will help
the person you criticize in his or her life. Let that critic motivate him or her.
My boss is not the typical boss..he was waaaayyyy tooooo typical. All the critics, not only from him, i had heard–from good to worst.
I onced, really, kept it inside me that critics hurt me, but then i realized i have to listen to critics inorder to become stronger–that critics
will motivate me and become who i am today.

3. NOT JEALOUS - we should not covet what others have, or begrudging another for having something you do not have.
In every work place, there are always jealousy among employees to impress their superiors. Quote me on this, but a lot of these in
our workplace. Doing something bad just to have that dream-of-all-dreams position or thing. Why not do something good inorder to impress
your superiors.

4. NOT POMPOUS OR INFLATED - should be humble, not thinking of your own importance, more impressed with your own unworthiness
than merit.
Always be proud of what you can do, but not judge yourself according to your weaknesses or else what weakens you will drive you away
from your goal. Stay your head up.

5. NOT RUDE - accord honor and respect to one another.
In meeting people in our everyday lives in the office, different characterisitics I have already meet. There’s this one person who claims his
instant prize of a conditioner sachet. He was so rude enough tht if you dont know how to control, you will fall down your knees and cry,
"Oh, GOD! Why have you forsaken me?". But I tried to become polite and respectful as much as possible.

6. NOT SELF-SEEKING - not having your rights met, but more on your duties.
Don’t just think about yourself. like in my work, i dont just see one activity being successful without the help of those pepole working for
me inorder to execute an activity brilliantly.

7. NOT QUICK TEMPERED - able to master your emotions and feelings
The people surrounds me here at the office is 80% "sip-sip". They are the ones who can brag about themselves nicely to the management
by stepping others. there are some that they act on something just to get your sympathy. We cant blame them neither we cant control. Every
workplace there’s somebody who are just like them. If you cannot control your temper or your emotions with these people, pity on you.
this is what we can say about you "dagdag ka gid!" I dont say that you have to compete with them in bragging yourself up there, but just
make sure that if you ecountered this, reason out and just let go–concious free.

8. NOT BROOD OVER INJURY - not holding grudges or resentments.
If you feel that something annoying on your officemates..or towards the people under you. Try to control to manage it so that you can
work easily without that uncomfortable feeling you kept inside there. I, honestly, have some resentments or grudges kept inside me towards
co workers, but it made me uneasy to work especially when you’re dealing with them. Try to learn to slowly forgive and forget whatever
thngs you didnt patch up for so both of you can work ok.

9. NOT REJOICING OVER WRONGDOING - always seeking the good of others, even enemies
Handling people is very difficult, especially when you dont have that traits of being a superior. But I earned one thing in this field. Being
that strict bossy type, somehow, doesnt work sometimes. When one subordinate of yours have mistakes, let him/her know that they are
wrong. Try to talk to them how did they fail you as their boss. Of course, let that mistakes motivate them to become good in their work.
Dont let their mistakes feel them that they are the worst employees. Indi sila pag dagdaga na gid but help them.

10. REJOICES WITH THE TRUTH - telling the truth to one another
If you dont like this workmate of yours, why not tell him or her directly to his/her face. In that, she  or he may know what was wrong with themselves.

11. FORBEARS - can bear insult, injury, disappointment, without taking counter action; has self control. Sometimes, our workmates hurt us so badly that sometimes we tend to decide of quitting and revenge.

12. TRUSTS - believing the best about other people
How weak a person is we should still give trust to their capabilities. Of curse, we should also help them be the best about theirselves.
People may realize how trust was given to hem, this may lead them to respect you because of the trust you give to them. But others, we may not control it, but abuses the goodness we showed to them–what we do? read no. 10.

13. HOPES - having a positive attitude towards life and problems; can remain joyful and peaceful under any circumstances
No matter what circumstances we encountered in our work, we should still have this attitude in looking forward the best result despite of all the negative things happening…even the positive ones.

14. ENDURES - can bear things, not with passive resignation but with triumphant fortitude.
We should know how to handle things..even how worst it is, we should not let these things pull us down but we should solve this things triumphantly.

Its not that we SHOULD do this right away but we SHOULD TRY to do this or learn how to claim these characteristics. Loving your
neighbor is one commandment Hod imposes. If people doesnt appreciate these things you’ve showed at least God knows how you tried to.

things for the past weeks

i miss blogging things these past few weeks…so much of work to do and now i have the time to post few of the things that are "in" today..

1. die hard 4.0

watch this movie with my officemates, tsk! napabilib lang ko sa mga hackers like them. tsk! tsk! what a genius. well, sa bagay, pelikula man na..kung baga "sugo ka direktor, kag sulat sang writer" hehehhe pero the essence is its a great movie…the stunts of bruce willis, the creative thinking of the production group the story–was a two thumbs up.

2. transformers

i have been looking forward also to see this movie. alas! i finally seen it with dud, kruger and tope. grabe ang effects. gina imagine ko lang on how they create such scene..hamakon mu every position daan sang robots gina tagisa na drawing and edit. if you see the credits (ina bala ang mga ngalan sang nag support sa movie kagwa, nagalinya lang), kadamo artists gid ang gincredit. how we miss the transformation of these robots from our tv screen way-way back when we were younger. sus! kung kabalo lang ko nga mag uso ni liwat subong, tani wala to namun gin pang tadtad ang mga lawas sang robot nga hampanaganan sang una.

3. harry potter and the order of the phoenix

oh how we miss harry since the last movie, the goblet of fire. kamo? which harry potter movie do you like best? lain gid ya if you read the book compare to watching it in the big screen. damo kulang of course and i know how you would like it to see in the movie also rather than reading it lang with your imaginations.

4. mas makulay ang buhay sa sinabawang gulay

"dati ang gulay, di ko tinitikman. palagi na lang iniiwasan…makulay ang buhay..makulay ang buhay sa sinabawang gulay."

hehehe..this was the new pambansang awit. anywhere you would go, mapaschool man, supermarkets or office kabalo na sang song. ey! i know im connected with knorr, just to be fair lang…nami man gid ang commercial especially the campaign. i mean, using kids in the commercial with a hip song..really attracts mom and kids. and also encouraging kids to eat veggies.

watch out in your favorite supermarkets/groceries for the makulay na buhay sampling team where they will have a free taste of our local dish "LASWA" with knorr cubes. and…for every 3pcs knorr shellbox may free ka nga balloon.

5. wow paksiw

have you seen the commercial of wow paksiw? c luningning of wowowee dances the wow pak jingle? hehehe may bag o man na dance craze subong aside from the " adododo adadada ahahhaha" of wowowee. sampling is already deployed in selected supermarkets/groceries, you can taste the pinaksiw with wow pak recipe mix.

i would like to explain why ang pinaksiw sa sampling damo sabaw. i know na pinaksiw should be lesser sabaw, but to reach out to the consumers and let them taste the mix, ginpadamo namun sabaw para malasahan gd. damo b maygahambal na ang pinaksiw sa sampling daw tinola na isda. heheh

te, mu na lang na for now.

whatta wednesday…got starstrucked!

working in an activation agency of unilever gives me an opportunity to meet celebrities–one of which is heart evangelista which i had an opportunity to get upclose and personal with her last year. yes, she was nice, pretty and damn good.
this morning, my lola called to do some errands. she asked me if i have time, i could dropped by sugarland hotel to get the loyola payment of one of her planholders. i was hesitant to do everytime she does it during working hours but since i am going out to do store check, i did dropped by.

when i entered the lobby, i waited for the front desk to finished accommodating their guests so i stepped back. it was my first time to see a lot of people at the hotel  in a no event days. i suddenly spotted one of the bandmates of barbie almabis (which also have we handled during one of the mall tours and concerts). so i look around and trying to find barbie if she was around. no signs of barbie until i spotted heart evangelista.

i called her and to my surprise she still remembers me and that miss mia of genesis was there also and i haven’t notice her. they have an event at Cadiz since the city will celebrate their charter day. i asked her who will be performing aside from her and she said jericho rosales was with her. she then lead me and said "halika ate cy, pakilala kita kay echo". so i went with her. as i faced echo, it was my first time to get STAR STRUCKED. i don’t know why but i was like a statue in front of him. hes also nice and shake my hands. i have my notebook and a digicam in my hands that later i realized he was trying to shake my hands. i was stunned and just said.."ok..nice to meet you." i even forgot to take pix of ourselves because i was "tulala" na lang all the time. (can someboday bang my head? please?)

hehheehhehe….though its really funny and nakakahiya of me..at least i experienced the what you called "STAR STRUCKED!"

manic monday…and other topics!!

whatta busy monday i got! quarter end na and lots of things to do. reports…summary…activities..hmmm,. gud thing lang i know how to manage my time. naks!!

this monday, daw kadamo gid topics which we discussed gina sa ofiz. share ko lang:

1. sa mga taga bacolod, i dont know if may ara man ni sa iban na mga lugar. pero nakita nyu na ang public jeepney na ginmerchandsie sang coca cola? nice noh? hehhehe ka enganyo magsakay sa amo na nga jeep. its a nice idea especially if may free coke pa gd everytime you ride that jeepney. di bah? suggest ta na sa coke!

2. transformers? have you seen transformers na? ako wala pa. bwas ma watch ko na. hehheheh oopps! dont spill the ending part..gonna watch pa.

3. the PBB. well..at last! the PBB season 2 is finished na!! oh well, wala na ta debatihan and diskusyunan. now, bea got the BIG winner slot. review ta gamay…the issue with abs-cbn started when there’s an evictee na ginpasulod liwat. then the banganay with bea and gee an. yes, its true said a very reliable source of mine that PBB is scripted lang gid. their big 3 is gee, mickey and bea..first they thought of putting nel to ocmplete the big 4 but wendy really helps in the station’s ratings so para mas abangan pa gd sa mga tao, they have to let wendy stay till the end. oh well…kaluluoy lang galing kay wendy because during the host called her name gina-BOO siya sang mga tao–maski sa guestings.

4. RESIGNATION. hmmm..d pa man sure but one of the most trusted person sa ofiz will submit her resignation with in the week. wala man ko da question pero kabudlay na magkwa other person to entrust the activities. haaayyy..kapoy naman train!!
